The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mr Mohammed Bello-Koko, says the agency is expected to generate N629.89 billion in 2024 while asking for a N200 billion loan from Afrexim Bank. Bello-Koko stated this while defending the 2024 budget before the House of Representatives Committee on Port and Harbour in Abuja. He said that the United Kingdom Export Finance (UKEF) was also listed as one of the financial institutions to source the loan. He said that the total projected expenditure was N464.32 billion, while the operating expenses were projected at N212.03 billion and the capital expenditure stood at N252.29 billion.

A new fire safety study by global Survival Technology solutions provider Survitec has revealed that existing fire fighting methods used to extinguish machinery space spray and pool fires on conventionally fueled vessels are inadequate when dealing with methanol based fires. This follows extensive comparative fire tests on dual fuel marine engines using diesel oil (DO) and methanol, carried out amid
growing interest in methanol as an alternative marine fuel.

The Nigeria Customs Service has affirmed its readiness to collaborate with the Nigeria Export Promotion Commission (NEPC) on initiatives to enhance trade and boost export activities. Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, made this announcement during a courtesy visit by the Management team of the Agency to the Customs Corporate Headquarters in Abuja. Addressing the guests, CGC Adeniyi stated, “Collaborating with the NEPC will significantly aim at leveraging the Commission’s expertise and resources to streamline export processes further, reduce bottlenecks, and create a conducive environment for exporters.”

The newly appointed Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA); Dr. Dayo Mobereola has assured that the agency’s management under his leadership will build a purpose driven organisation, This is even as he promised to prioritise effective communication at all levels to enhance innovation, collaboration and synergy. Danish logistics provider Blue Water Shipping has sealed a deal with Singapore based floater specialist Yinson Production for the transportation of topside modules for the Agogo floating storage, production and offloading vessel.
The AGOGO FPSO will be operated by Yinson Production in the West Hub field of Block 15/06 offshore Angola for Azule Energy, a joint venture between BP and Eni. The contract covers the transportation of 15 modules, with the heaviest weighing 3211 metric tonnes. The first shipping i s scheduled for May and will involve both domestic transportation within China and international shipping from Indonesia and Vietnam to China
