Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has called for a robust partnership with the Federal Government to advance the Agge deep seaport project, emphasizing its potential to transform the state’s economy. The governor during a meeting with the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, highlighted the urgent need for federal support to realize the project which he described as crucial infrastructure initiative. The governor pointed out that the Agge seaport could serve as a vital hub for trade and investment, reducing Nigeria’s dependency on oil and gas by tapping into the maritime sector.

The Executive Chairman, Courier and Logistics Management Institute (CLMI), Prof. Simon Emeje, said courier and logistics sub-sector could boost Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 60 per cent, if fully tapped. Emeje said this at a news conference organised by the professional body to announce its upcoming CLMI International Conference and Investiture on Friday in Lagos. The conference and investiture slated for November 14 will take place in Lagos. The CLMI boss said that tapping into the industry with assets worth over N15 trillion required regulatory excellence and innovation.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has launched B’Odogwu, a new Unified Customs Management System, starting with a pilot phase in Lagos at Port & Terminal Multi-Services Limited (PTML). While addressing newsmen at PTML Command, the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, stated that the innovative platform represents a significant milestone in Nigeria Customs’ modernisation journey, aligning with global best practices. A helicopter crash en-route the NUIM-ANTAN FPSO has been reported on Thursday by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, adding that three bodies have been recovered with five persons still missing. A statement signed by the Chief Corporation Communication Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Olufemi Soneye made available to SweetCrude Reports explained that the helicopter, operated by East Wind Aviation had six passengers and two crew members. “On the 24th of October 2024, about 11:22am, we lost contact with the Helicopter – Register Number: 5NBQG, engaged by NNPC Limited, that took off from Port Harcourt NAF Base en route the FPSO – NUIMS ANTAN.
