The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has rolled out a broad strategy to accelerate Nigeria’s non-oil exports, focusing on infrastructure upgrades, simplified export procedures, and full automation of port operations. Speaking at the 37th Enugu International Trade Fair, the Managing Director of NPA, Abubakar Dantsoho, said the authority is repositioning the country’s ports to better connect local producers, particularly small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs)—to international markets. NSW Take-Off Falters, Seaports, Maritime Agencies Excluded

However, findings by Shipping Position Daily revealed a slow, skeletal take-off that fell short of industry expectations. The Federal Government had, in the build-up to the launch, raised hopes of a transformative shift in trade facilitation, with messaging that “Nigeria opens a new window to the world.”
