Important Update Regarding Potential Aviation Disruption and Crew Change Operations

We wish to bring to your attention a significant development within Nigeria’s aviation sector that may impact upcoming crew change operations. Aviation workers across the country are set to embark on a nationwide protest starting August 21, 2024, in response to the Federal Government's continued 50% deduction from the internally generated revenue of key aviation agencies, including the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA).

In a letter dated August 14, 2024, titled “Save Aviation From Collapse,” aviation unions have expressed grave concern that these deductions are severely affecting critical safety operations and pushing the sector toward potential dysfunction. Efforts to resolve the issue with the government have thus far been unsuccessful. As a result, the unions have called on all aviation workers to participate in peaceful protests at airports nationwide.

Outlook:

If the strike proceeds as planned, there is a strong likelihood of disruptions across Nigeria’s airports, including possible flight cancellations, delays, and other operational challenges. This situation may affect crew change schedules, especially those requiring air travel.

At ALS, we are committed to providing continuous support and timely updates to ensure your crew change operations proceed with minimal disruption. Should you need further assistance or require alternative arrangements, please do not hesitate to contact our team.

Thank you for your attention, and we will keep you informed as the situation develops.
